In Rome key thing to remember is that you cannot buy tickets on public transport.

Tickets for Metro, Bus, Local Trains can be bought from the Tobacconists or ‘Tabaccherria’, Metro stations, Automatic Ticket Machines in the stations and some newsstands.
If you’re needing a ticket for a short journey of less than 75 minutes, you can buy the Biglietto semplice B.I.T. (time integrated ticket) Cost is just 1 euro.

Top tip: Remember it can only be stamped once in the Metro so if you exit the Metro you will have to purchase another ticket.
If you’re planning to use public transport for a whole day there is a 4 Euro ticket called Biglietto giornaliero "BIG" which is valid for 24 hours.

Biglietto per 3 giorni "BTI" valid for 3 days from time of 1st use. Cost: 11 euros
"Carta settimanale" is valid for 1 week from time of 1st use. Cost: 16 euros
Top tip: After purchasing your ticket remember to validate your ticket on buses and trams after boarding to avoid being heavily fined. The ticket validation Machine can be found throughout the vehicle .
How to get from Fiumicino and Ciampino Airport to the city
If you’re flying into Fiumicino Airport, there is an option of taking the train which drops you off at Termini Station in the heart of Rome.
Journey takes 31 minutes and runs regularly. Cost is 11 euros.
If you’re flying into Rome Ciampino Airport, excellent option is the Terravision service.
Cost is 4 euros , one-way if booking online or 6 euros from the ticket offices in the airport.
